Update: The Adventure of Following Jesus
At the end of last year Sarah and I made a massive decision to uproot our life in Melbourne and move to Mildura – or as they like to call it “Tropical North Victoria.” I remember getting up to preach at CityLife Casey Church and saying something along the lines of,
“We don’t have anything locked down. We don’t have jobs, a home, or a school for the kids. All we know is that we sense God leading us this way. We have a vision to get a house, use it as a base for ministry, for Sarah to study social work, and to be closer to family… How will all this work out? Only by the power of the Holy Spirit!”
Some people thought we were mad to leave a stable life and ministry - especially with no idea of how to make anything work. However, mnost of the comments we heard were positive as people spoke about how they “wished they could step out in faith like us.”
I believe that God is calling every single one of us to an adventure of following Jesus into the unknown in order to see Heaven oin Earth. It may not look like leaving Melbourne to go to Mildura, but it will involve moments of listening to God, feeling a bit of fear then taking a risk and stepping out in faith.
And here is the amazing thing… God is faithful! When we step out He catches us. The bigger the leap the greater the miracle! God has been miraculosly providing for us every step of the way! Here’s the thing, following Jesus is not supposed to be some form of drudgery. Following Jesus is an exciting adevture where you see the impossible happen right infront of you!
I’m starting to blog again to share our adventure of following Jesus. I want to encourge you to lay aside your safe (and boring?) Christianity, and take a leap of faith! Yes, it may be scary, but thats when the fun starts!
You see, I believe that God is making all things new. He is putting the world back to the way it was supposed to be: a land full of light, life and love. That is exremely GOOD NEWS in a world where there is so much darkness, death and disconnection. And the crazy part is that God is inviting youand I to join Him in this misison Jesus called, “Kingdom Come.”
So, my committment is I will post regulalry. I’ll share stories and reflections on what God is showing me. It won’t always be complete, it may look like me just processing stuff, but I hope it will be helpful. So I invite you to join in.
Thanks and talk more soon!
